I am the one who's crawling inside your brain...

Hello League,
Hah! I got your attention with the title didn't I? Yeah, competition in the OGIL is progressing to an all time high. It is true that the NYIs really shook things up this year in the football department and we are looking to do it again and score more touchdowns towards the end of the season. In addition to scoring touchdowns and kicking field goals, I have been hearing rumors of an OGIL buy out of the "ESPN the ocho" exclusive sport Fantasy Fly-Fishing. Also in the rumor mill, speculation of the OGIL branching out into Fantasy soccer and Fantasy baseball. The NYIs release this statement with no retractions, "Where the OGIL goes the Interestings will probably follow. Obviously these rumors have not been confirmed but this organization was built upon versatility and you can wager that the NYIs would, should, and could dominate any fantasy sport." Gossip has been spreading that a sub-department of the NYIs named "Baby Octopus" will be integrated to some popular Fantasy games within the OGIL.

Talk owners! Talk!

Hello League,
How is everyone? Good, I hope. I understand how we are all busy, a lot of the time, but I believe that this league could be even more enjoyed if our owners posted short messages every now and then to keep up to date in our fantasy league. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do, but the OGIL is a place where all of our owners' ideas are blended together for the betterment of the league. If you have free time, I'd love to read a rant every so often... =-) Also, to our imprisoned Commish, I would like to be interviewed again if you'd have me on. Thanks!

You only have 21 hours to save the world...

Hello League,
I think it's great that the league has decided to "pick out of a hat" for the upcoming fantasy league draft. We are all beginning on a clean slate this season, and I feel that a completely random draft is the correct direction to go in because of the spontaneous results it may yield (although it may create more corrupt animosity). We, as a league, do not wish to send our league representative to Guantanamo Bay... again. As the hours of voting are winding down realize that, as a league, we have made the right, justified, virtuous, and uncorrupt decision to "pick out of a hat" to reveal the drafting order. Keep in mind that anyone who violates the very moral OGIL principles (which there are none of, just joking =-) ) will be severely punished and will be ousted to Guantanamo Bay. Thanks.

THE OGIL BLITZ!!! New York... the most interesting place to play!

Welcome to the OGIL BLITZ!!! Only the OGIL BLITZ!!! has this news! Today we have a special edition sitdown with NYIs' owner Chris G.

"In 2010, New York will be the best and most interesting place to play in the OGIL" said the now sophomore OGIL owner. He's confident that the NYIs' second year will be even more interesting than their first. This reporter asked him how this could be done when the first year was already so interesting. The NYIs-ian replied, "It's very tricky... We will build on the successes of our first year and fix what we need to fix." This reporter also questioned the NYIs-ian about how important continuity would be this upcoming season. "What kind of question is that!? Continuity is what killed the NYIs last season. We need to get better in that department or we will go all the way down... to the toilet bowl. We don't want to end up there after such a promising first season."

Well, there you have it, from the owner himself, the NYIs will create more buzz in the coming weeks and you can bet that New York is the place to play in 2010.

Super Bowl Prop Betting

For many folks the Super Bowl is many things and each seem to have their favorite part of the day:

some like the commercials

some like drinkin beers

some like eating a bunch

some like the game

and I love the prop bets!!!  My guesses are in parenthesis...

Coin Toss(Colts), Total Kickoffs (over 9), Team to Commit 1st Penalty(Saints), team to score last in the 1st half (Saints), what will the score be..td or field goal (FG)?, will there be a safety (no), How many times will Pete Townshend do a windmill on the guitar at half time (over 7), how many times will CBS cut to shots of Archie Manning and/or Kim Kardashian (6 for Archie and 2 for Kim), how many times will the announcers mention Hurricane Katrina,(3) what color will be the gatorade bath (orange), Bush running yards (42) or Odom points/rebounds/assists (16/8/3 = 26).

Answer to NYI's

Great post Mr. Blank.  I loved your analysis of the OGIL rivalries.

However, I think you forgot one:

The Bison v. Turner and Hooch

The two worst teams in the league will be battling for the title of most stinky!

...And there will be blood

Hello League,
I just wanted to write a short post about some of the key rivalries that I believe will play a key role in the 2010 OGIL season.

The Mayhem and the Pa thetics- This one's obvious, Family Jewels Champ vs #2.

The Pa thetics and the Central Pa Turds- The thetics kept the Turds out of the championship game and for that the Turds are angry. Revenge... might be coming!!!
The Mayhem and the NYIs- The NYIs want redemption after the sorrowful defeat they suffered at the hands of the Mayhem. Key matchup in '010 season.
The NYIs and the Central Pa Turds- The NYIs lost to the Turds in the inaugural Dos Equis Bowl game. Team Dos Equis was really unhappy about that. Also, the fact that the Turds were the only team able to defeat the NYIs twice in the regular season is interesting and remarkable.
BWR Wildcats and Hawk Hill Ben- These two teams constantly battled each other, even when they had nothing left to give. Look for this rivalry in '010.
Priority Stampeders and Turner & Hooch- This was a rivalry that I noticed, that really flew under the radar. These two teams played to the best of their abilities and certainly did not disappoint. Look for this sleeper rivalry.

SuperBowl

Hello League,
Well, let's get right down to it. My picks for the Super Bowl-- I think that the Colts will find a way to beat the Saints (42 to 38). I have to point out that the Saints almost lost their last game. Think about it, the Vikings were turning the ball over constantly, yet Favre and the Fumbling Fools stayed in the game 'till the last play in O.T. So, I think that Peyton Manning will be able to follow through and deliver a big win for the Indianappolis organization. Sorry to the Whodat nation, but there is definitely and undoubtedly an upside to both of these franchises.

Updated line from the Commish

League,

So we are only a few days away from the Super Bowl...I'm hittin you with a quick post to update the betting line.  I've weighted the fact that Dwight Freeney is going to likely be out.  Therefore, I value freeney's impact on the ability to pressure Brees and make him deliver to his WR's before they can get seperation.  We saw all season the NO WR's were great unless they were trying to make a play in traffic.  if they get hit in the mouth they soften.  They are most effective when they get seperation; if any of them get time they ALL get seperation.  So if Brees has more time the WR's can get more seperation and therefore hit a lot more big plays.

So I'm dropping my line from favoring the Colts by +11.5 to +7.  The Vegas line is sitting around 4.5 or 5 but I think it's at least a touchdown favorite.

I enjoyed NYI's post on this past year and i echo his praise of our league members; however, I pity him if he truly thinks I won't dominate him again next year!

Stay tuned for more updates before the big game including my take on prop betting...as if anyof you care...C'mon - i'm just trying to get more of you to write.  Look at this garbage I'm printing...it doesn;t even make sense.  Someone save me and start posting something interesting (The NYI's are excluded from that last statement; they're doing a great job).

Making An Impact!

Hello League,
This season, the NYIs are going to go far. We came to this league not only to compete with friends and family, but we came to town in order to make an impact. With an impressive rookie coaching season under our belt we are looking to use our newly established acumen to delve deep into the playoffs this time around. The NYIs look foward to facing the many adversities and challenges that come with being an owner, in any league. The NYIs released this statement to the OGIL BLITZ, "The respect that we have for every individual team is so great... We anticipate the hard work we have ahead of us," Making an impact will be the NYIs' primary goal in '010.

Super Bowl Bound

A few observations from yesterday...

1. The Commish picked both winners yesterday and went 1 for 2 on the spread.

2. Peyton is a machine.  I think SkyNet sent him to earth to find John Connor.  There is no way the Saints defense is going to be able to keep pace or find a terminator to play in the saftey and keep him honest.

3. These are two very likeable teams.  It's going to be tough to be angry if either team wins this game.

4.  The most annoying subtext to the SB will be the "Manning" families rooting interest.  Every dumb tv commentator is going to act like they just uncovered the fact that Archie and the Manning family band  grew up in New Orleans.

5.  The over under for this game may likely be north of 70 points.

6.  I belive that Joe Bozo Buck "biblically" knows Brett Farve.  He was flat smitten.  In fact, he spent the whole second half making excuses for Favre and the Vikings.  He was so biased he started making Aikman's points seem intelligent.  Did anyone else notice that Buck spent the better part of the second half trying to jinx Garrett Hartley?  It was almost comical.  He literally found 12 different ways to remind us that hartley was too younf to ever make a meaningful kick in crunch time.  It was even sweeter when artley pumped it right down the middle.

7.  Why is Peyton's head shaped like the planters peanut man?  And do you think if someone told that to Rex Ryan he would take a bite out of Peyton?

8. Do you think Jim Nantz and Phil Simms comb each other hair while the other one holds a mirror during commerical breaks?  98, 99, 100 Phil...a tradition unlike any other...stroking each others mane AND... The Masters...only on CBS!

9.  If Garrett Hartley misses the FG but the Saints still win...does John Carney start the SB?

10.  An early line...Vegas says Colts by 4...The Commish says Colts by 11.5

Well, we have our AFC Champions!

Hello League,
By now, I'm sure that you have found out that the Colts have won the AFC Championship and are on their way to Miami. The Colts won the game 30 to 17 after trailing, going into the second half, 13 to 17.

Old Glory Insurance League predictions

Soooo I keep seeing members of the league posting predictions about this weekend.  Let the Commish set you straight...

The Vikings have a stacked offense and a productive defense...until this week.  The dominant offense this week will be the Saints and their defense while not superior will play consistent enough and create turnovers to win.  The constant pressure that the Vikings got on the Cowgirls will not be present this week.  A weak Minnesota secondary will be exposed and Bennie Sapp may give up two TD's - and at least one to Colston.  Farve will feel the pressure and Childress will rely heavily on the pass.  He'll forget to mix in Peterson and Taylor and his pass happy play calling will allow for at least one interception.  The Commish's Vegas line says the Saints are favored by 11.

The press and Uncle Rexy have made a big deal about the Jets.  The J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets.  However, let's look at the game at hand.  Peyton and ther Colts are flat good!  They can pass on any team all day long.  Plus, if he can make Garcon and Collie look like they are All Pro - then he can throw on ANYONE.  Look, the Jets will put Super Revis on Reggie Wayne.  Peyton just won't look at him.  He'll throw to Clark, Garcon, Collie all day long.  The Jets can't keep up with all of them.  They have to single a linebacker on Addai and then put a slower LB on Clark out of the backfield.  With the others going deep Manning will dink and dunk all day long.  They will dominate the ball.  When Sanchez gets the ball he'll feel pressure to throw and this will take away from the incredible Jet running game.  This will be closer then some think but the Colts willl win.  The Commish's Vegas line says the Colts are favored by 8.5.

That's a PREDICTION BABY!!!!!!

My Predictions on this weekend's games

Hello League,

It's great to transition to the new OGIL Blog site and I look foward to making many posts in the near future. Alright, let's cut to the chase; I believe that the Colts will defeat the Jets by the score of 24 to 14, advancing to the Super Bowl. Also, I think that Favre and the Vikings will make it out of New Orleans alive winning by 5 points in a 35 to 30 game. So, assuming that both the Colts and Vikings get to the Super Bowl, I pick the Colts to win the game 28 to 24. Stay thirsty to pick my friends.

Bold Predictions for this Week's Game

I will be the first to start the blogging, not related to the league, but it is relevant to the NFL

Jets will be the Colts 27 - 24, calling it, last second field goal

Saints will stomp out the Vikings 17-14, i know who would ever think of this being a low scoring game. Brees throws 3 INTs, Farve throws 2 INTs and loses a fumbles in the last two minutes on a sack and FF by Jonathan Vilma setting up victory formation.

What say you?
